Fredericksburg Weekend Trip

Fredericksburg is a great place for a Texas Weekend Roadtrip!

We went with four other people and stayed at a place that a friend booked on VRBO and it was really great! Fredericksburg is also very dog friendly so if you wanted to bring your dog a good dog friendly hotel is Peach Tree Inn and Suites.

We drove down on Friday night and went and got pizza at The West End (dog friendly). I didn’t think this place was amazing or anything but they had a nice patio and live music. I loved the garlic knots but the pizza sauce on the pizza was weird.

Saturday we hiked to the top of enchanted rock. Entrance fees are $7 per person and they do accept credit cards. Parking can get very packed in the morning so best to get there early, they open at 8. We left Fredericksburg around 9 and got back to our house by 11.

It is such a quick, yet challenging, hike so when you get to the top you really feel like you accomplished something! Also the view is just so Texas and I love it!

After our hike we all showered and got ready for some wine tasting! We utilized the 290 Shuttle which is a hope on hope off shuttle that is $24.99 for the day. It was really great to not have to drive after doing multiple wine tastings!

My favorite wineries are Grape Creek and Becker. I also really like Armadillo’s Leap which is conveniently located right next to 3 other tasting rooms and Messina Hof has a great Almond Sparkling wine that deserves a taste. The ones I’m never very impressed with are  Fat Ass and Mendelbaum, but maybe I just had a bad experience.

Our Becker wine tasting below!

Grapes and Views at Grape Creek!

My favorite wine ended up being the Grape Creek Mosaic so we bought a bottle of that and now I can’t wait to drink it!

For Dinner we went to Jennie’s Smoked Burgers which was suggested to us by a lot of people but I thought it was pretty average.

I have also been to Auslander which is a great German place. Silver Creek has a geat patio and good food as well (dog friendly)! We also tried to go to Hondo’s on Main because their food looked delicious and they had the Almost Patsy Cline Band, but the wait was so long and we were really hungry!

If you go in the July or August you should get some peaches from a farm stand on the way back home (there are a lot on 290) and then you can make this Balsamic Peach Grilled Chicken!

Happy Wineing!
